Iowa Medicaid Program
Medical Assistance is a publicly funded health care program implemented
for very low-income individuals, children who need financial support,
parents with children, seniors, people with disabilities and pregnant
women. Medical Assistance is paid by federal and state dollars. Certain
criteria of income and other requirements are to be fulfilled, in order
to be eligible to claim Medicaid. Medicaid is one of the largest health
care providers in Iowa. The Iowa Medicaid Program is administered by the Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME).

The
Bureau of Health Statistics oversees and manages the collection, and distribution of public health and vital statistics data. The department works concurrently with other state and local agencies to provide technical assistance to users to procure the vital records, sort and solve problems and upgrade to meet the emerging health trends.
Under the state/federal law, vital records are confidential records maintained by the bureau of health statistics. The bureau furnishes the certificates to the person named on the certificate, mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother or legal representative of the person. Certain legal fees are levied to obtain the certificate or additional copies, to search the certificate and also to expedite the process.
